Professional Interests
Although Nancy supports community education and life-long learning for all, she now substantially limits her therapy, teaching and consulting activities. Her educational/counseling practice in Oregon is limited to approximately 15 hours per week; she practices and consults in California at her convenience. Nancy’s personal and professional commitments now focus on improving women’s access to sexual health education and counseling. As a professional who has personally "come of age," she has particular interest in sexuality and healthy aging; in research focused on peri- and post-menopausal women motivated to extend and preserve their sexual response and sensuality; in coaching pre- and non-orgasmic women in successful self-pleasuring techniques, and in supporting cancer survivors to recover and thrive.
Therapeutic Approach
Drawing on her extensive years of licensed professional experience, Nancy offers innovative, systemically-focused sexual therapy from a woman's unique perspective. From an academic perspective, she appreciates the contributions of research and evidence-based strategies in the fields of behavioral medicine, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and clinical sexology. These tools and techniques prove helpful to licensedprofessionals when applied to the treatment of a complex variety of problems impacting female, male and couple sexual fulfillment. Committed to being well informed, Nancy reads extensively across disciplines, and appreciates the contributions ofsystemic, cognitive/behavioral, and psychodynamic theorists. During her doctoral education she chose to commit her life to sexual and couple counseling, working creatively with diverse individuals who embrace distinct and varied sexual, cultural and ethic backgrounds. Her decades-long interest and advocacy in the political and economic aspects of female sexuality is an enduring interest and influences her approach to therapy.
Nancy’s approach is proactive and reality-focused. Her approach is structured, time-limited and cost-effective.
